Touch the History

Printing Museum in the Hefehof

Compressor Motor? Aluminium parts? That was how the Colibri and Sperber of Hamelin revolutionised auto construction.

In the Automobil-Museum at the Hefehof (near the Train Station) you may find out more about these facinating vehicles and how the city of Hamelin nearly became the home to Volkswagen. Journalist Alastair McKenzie did an intensive report about the museum here

"Black Magic" may be found adjacent: A look into the wizardry of bringing information to paper. In "Die bewegliche Letter" you can see (and feel) original old printshops and even an Apple Macintosh that was used by the local Newspaper.

From here it only a few minutes by Bicycle, Bus or Car to three other Museums in Hamelin-Tuendern:

The Windmill on the Weser Levee in Hamelin-Tuendern

Idyll and Labor: Three museums in Tuendern present life in the countryside.

A lovingly assembled collection about farmlife and craftsmanship is brought together at the Dorfmuseum. You will find a traditionally planted garden behind the house kept up by the Tundirum e.V. association.

The business of a butcher can be reflected upon at the Fleischermuseum, perhaps with a fitting snack?

Not far from Hamelin, you will also find Museums for Tractors, Firemen, Minerals, Industrialization and the Castles. There's something for everyone - not only for rainy days.
